Cloth mats may not seem like much of a child development toy. But when you add extras such as varying textures, high-contrast colors, squeaking and jingling toys, and plastic rings and loops they're really powerful stimulation aids.These mats stimulate your child's vision, hearing, and sensory and even motor development skills.
Mats are great for infants since they bring playtime down to their physical level. Toys are close by so they can be easily reached. And bright colors and noise-makers are close enough to be easily seen and heard by an infant's developing senses.
Mats also are ideal for letting parents join in their infant's fun. Parents can lie on the floor with their child to help stimulate his or her interest in the mat's various features.
For older children, large, colorful mats provide a soft and comfortable playing surface that can also be used as a surface for beginning tumbling or even a nice place to curl up for a nap.
You may not have considered baby mats for much baby stimulation value. But as you can see, they have many more benefits, uses and stimulation value than just being a simple playing surface.
